because the more damage you take the more health you get. thats for 600'ing. for 55'ing you can use any armour. But the cheapest armour is the lowest AI, and cheaper = less time you have to spend to break even on stuff you bought for the farming equip.

It depends on what kind of farming build your using some builds require certain armor levels.

You can get the lowest armor you can buy in places like Old Ascalon, Shing Jei Monastery and Kamadan. As for what runes you'll want to use, it strongly depends on the particular build you use for farming. For example, some 600 monk builds may want to use both a sup divine favor and a sup protection prayers rune, along with energy and some health to allow you to get back up to 600 health over all. A 55 on the other hand needs a sup rune (other than vigor or absorption) on each armor piece to bring your life low enough. More specific info can be found on the build pages if you look on PvXwiki.com. Good hunting.

Hero armour automatically upgraded its protection as they go up levels
The look can be customised there are AI characters that will do this if you have the right materials Armour remnants I believe are whats needed.
Other than that you can add runes and so on just like your armour

Go to wiki.guildwars.com, do a search for "hero armor." This will tell you everything you need to know about upgrading your hero's appearance.
